If you're not angry, you're not paying attention.
Californians: Find someone who voted for prop 8 and tell them, to their face, that they are a bigot, no better than the people who tried to keep Obama out of office because he's black. Just because there's more anti-gay bigots left in California than anti-black bigots doesn't make it ok. They're bigots and they need to be ashamed of what they are.

I think you're being facetious, but...

You see the irony in that, right?
I'm vehemently against prop 8 too, but you can't erase bigotry with hate.

Hatred of negative actions is acceptable. It's more than acceptable, it's exemplary. It's a good thing to hate things like murder, theft, and, in this case, oppression.

Irony would be for me to call for taking marriage away from Christians, responding to their oppression of others with calls for oppression of them.

But I'm calling for shame. The sort of shame that makes people think twice before they say something stupid in public because someone else will call them out on it.

The people who voted for Prop 8 think they did a good thing. The only way to show them otherwise is to rain down the truth on their heads: They are bigots, and bigotry is wrong. They're no better than racists. They've taken part of the pursuit of happiness away from gays, not because being gay harms them, but because they are bigots and outnumber gays. They're evil and need to be told it in no uncertain terms, because they think they are good.

Why do you think some racists get nervous and quiet when confronted about their views in public? They know they'll be scorned for their opinions. They know they're in the wrong. They know what the proponents of prop 8 don't know yet: They are bigots, and our bigotry is to be derided.
